Franklyn Cards : Selling a better grade of card for 25 years.

The usual good job done by Churchmans. The set starts off with a chap floating on a log and ends up with the Queen Mary. It manages to mention just about every other vessel we have floated about in the water on in between. 50 cards well priced and well worth it.

Churchmans The Story of Navigation [1937] 50 cards

They were modern then, but not so modern now. A good many never saw the end of World War Two and a good few waged war with one another. Again a set of cards with a real resonance.

Players Modern Naval Craft [1939] 50 cards

Slightly different approach from Wills here, concentrating on the day to day realities of making sure the vessels actually moved about the globe. A good many bizarre things seem to happen at sea (fortunately not all avenues are explored in this set).

Wills The Worlds Dreadnoughts [1910] 25 cards

Another set I just love. Well done Wills. It doesn't habve the Titanic in it but it does have the sister ship and given a lot of the film we have watched over the years believing it to be the Titanic turned out to be the Olympic there is not a lot of difference between them once reduced to the size of a cigarette card. Considered to be a classic this set charts the development of naval dress as it developed from way back when to well quite recently. Plenty of colour, plenty of detail. I must remember to write a page about it.
