Wills cigarette cards were early adopters of the cinema stars but in England anyway also left the field early which was a shame.  Indeed Wills were to issue a good many entertainment themed cigarette cards in their output.

Wills produced a 1916 set of cigarette cards depitcting cinema stars via their scissor brand, a brand of cigarettes that had produced many actor cards with the long running Actresses series they ran from 1904-1916.

Scissor Brand cigarettes were issued in India (and usually I do not get involved in overseas brands) but they were also issued in areas where there were British garrions.  Its a fine line I have created myself and maybe I should not have crossed it, coz it might have caused another 20 years of work for me.

I have taken the same soft line on the 1926 Four Aces brand as these were also issued where there were British garrisons between the years 1924-28.

In Australia they did produce a final series entitled Famous Film Stars in 1934.

However these sets produced in the dying days of the silent movies are a wonderful reminder of the stars of the day, some of which failed to make the transition to the talkies and were lost to cinema goers forever.

Indeed many of the cinema stars depicted on these cigarette cards are fading from memory now, all the more reason to list them here and keep the cigarette cards depicting these once massively popular and famous cinema stars alive and well.
