Players cigarettes were late adopters to the film star theme and only produced a few cigarette card sets on this subject.
This is unfortunate for the collector of this theme (or not depending on your bank balance I guess).
However the cigarette cards they did produce were top drawer and they take up the story of film stars where Wills left.
Film Stars A series (1924) and Film Stars 2nd series (1934) are adhesive backed cards, the bane of card collectors years ago and still if not stored correctly can be a problem nowadays. Fortunately I sell all my cigarette cards housed in plastic sleeves so these issues no longer cause the problems they once did, at least here.
The third series takes a departure in artistic style from series one and two.
The large format cards are a treat and a pretty radical departure in terms of style with the silver screen effect they have given these wonderful cards.
