The General [1927]
Speak Easily [1932]
Film [1965]

Possibly the first to make comedy something which existed in the medium of film rather than a camera watching a comedian being funny.
Famously did his own stunts, and famously got it wrong at times.
Always deadpan, his face barely altered as events determined to crush him.
In real life his decline was self-made and pretty much complete.
Started in the family vaudeville show at 3 and remained till 23.
Best work was before being signed to MGM in 1928.
MGM were more business orientated, Keaton just made movies. MGM wanted to know how they were going to be made.
1933, fired, divorced and falling down drunk.
His appearances on film after that date remind you of a great boxer stepping into the ring many times to often. Although Film [1965] should only be watched by the most literal of minded.
