He returned to England and stage work during the war.
Afterwards he was never the same as illness overtook him.
By 1955 oxygen cylinders were kept off stage for him.
His last film The Inn of Sixth Happiness [1958] you are watching a man die.
His final on-screen words, "We shall not see each other again, I think. Farewell"
