| A bowler of significance, finishing his career with 3060 wickets. His first class career began in 1888 and ceased with World War One. From a cricketing family (Tom & George Hearne were his uncles) Cousin to Frank, Alec and GG Hearne and his brother was Walter Hearne. 1897 went on the Australia tour with AE Stoddart. In 1899 took the first hat-trick against Australia on English soil. Clem Hill, Sidney Gregory and MA Noble being the victims of this event. In 15 different seasons he took over 100 wickets, 3 times more than 200. In 1901 he took 99 wickets but slight compensation being this was his best year with the bat with 522 runs at an average of 20.88. |
